Hardwood conservatories, orangeries and sunrooms have the timeless quality that you simply do not get with other materials.Nothing compares with the appearance of a quality hardwood structure.
Unfortunately Hardwood is high maintenance in comparison to uPVC and Aluminium.
Replacing the ageing timber cappings with aluminium cappings will eliminate the need for maintenance.Coated in white or brown (or infact any colour)with cappings to suit this could be the ideal solution.
A large number of hardwood conservatories also have fibreglass ridge covers which can also be replaced with plastic or aluminium alternatives.

This picture is a hardwood conservatory.Note the plastic cappings have eroded causing water ingress. The roof sheets are clear 10mm thick polycarbonate which has low insulation values and was too hot in summer and too cold in winter.

This is the same conservatory glazed with
24mm double glazed units. The units are toughened and are filled with argon to increase insulation values. It also has a neutral tint to reduce solar glare.
Blue, green and clear options are also available as well as a self cleaning option.
